Academics at Bursa Technical University (BTÜ) have initiated a new project to make the internship processes of engineering students more efficient. Under the Erasmus+ KA220 VET supported project, all skills acquired by students during their internships will be documented on a specially designed digital platform. Through this platform, students' development can be monitored in real-time by both academics and industry stakeholders.
BTÜ’s "EngineerTrack: Gamified Internship Tracking and Skill Enhancement App for Future Engineers" project has been eligible for support under Erasmus+ KA220 VET. The project, coordinated by BTÜ, includes international partners from Romania, Italy, Germany, Serbia, and Greece. The project team from BTÜ includes Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cihan Kaboğlu from the Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Department, Elif Atalı, an instructor from the Vocational School of Foreign Languages as a researcher, Ali Kılıç, an instructor from the Erasmus Office, and Dr. Şükran Güney Yılmaz, a recent graduate.
Intern development can be monitored in real-time
The project aims to support the internship experiences of engineering students through a gamified digital platform, making the process more efficient, traceable, and motivating. The EngineerTrack project, which will last for 24 months, seeks to transform the internship processes of engineering faculty students from a temporary experience into a sustainable learning and skill development journey supported by strong interaction among academics, industry leaders, and students. Thanks to the developed digital platform, interns' development will be monitored in real-time by both academic and industrial stakeholders.
The project opening will take place in Bursa
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cihan Kaboğlu stated that the opening meeting of the project would be held in Bursa, and subsequent activities would be organized in Italy and Germany. Dr. Kaboğlu said, “With the EngineerTrack project, we aim to transform engineering internships into a more efficient, measurable, and sustainable learning experience, empowering future engineers through the TRACK infrastructure. Through the application that will be designed in this direction, the fundamental skills acquired by the student during the internship period and the programs they use can be tracked. With the controllable and gamified nature of the project, the internships of engineering students will become more efficient.”
Rector Çağlar: We are combining quality and innovation in engineering education
Prof. Dr. Naci Çağlar, the Rector of BTÜ, expressed his pleasure at the acceptance of the project, stating, “The EngineerTrack project is a strategic step that brings together the internationalization vision of our university with quality and innovation in engineering education. BTÜ's role as a coordinator in this project, which will be conducted with partners from different European countries, and being the only university supported in Bursa under Erasmus+ KA220 VET, is a testament to our institutional capacity and academic accumulation. The project will enhance our educational quality by enabling our students to develop professional skills in the field while ensuring that their developments can be monitored by academic and industry stakeholders. I congratulate all our academics and stakeholders involved in the project.”
