Rector
Born in 1968 in Bakırköy, Istanbul, Naci Çağlar completed his undergraduate education in 1993 at Istanbul Technical University's Sakarya Engineering Faculty, specializing in Civil Engineering. He earned his Master’s degree from Sakarya University Institute of Science, Civil Engineering Department, in 1995 and his doctorate from Sakarya University Graduate School of Sciences, Civil Engineering Department, in 2002.
Naci Çağlar began his academic career as a research assistant at Sakarya University's Faculty of Engineering in 1993. He served as an Assistant Professor from 2002 to 2011 and as an Associate Professor from 2011 to 2016 in the same department. He was awarded the title of Professor in 2016.
Prof. Dr. Naci Çağlar has held several international visiting professorships: at the Institute of Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Seismology in Macedonia (1998), Aberdeen University in England (2003 and 2011), and Ohio State University in the USA (2015-2016). He has been an active member of various academic and administrative bodies, including the Ethics Committee of the Board of Higher Education (YÖK), the Inter-university Council (UAK), and the ÖSYM Sakarya Provincial Coordinator. He has also served as the Director of the Science Institute, a member of the SAU Senate and Board, a Board Member of Sakarya Teknokent, the Department Head, the head of the Sakarya University Alumni Association, and an advisor to the Sakarya mayor. Additionally, from 2019 to 2022, he served as Vice Rector of Sakarya University of Applied Sciences.
Prof. Dr. Naci Çağlar's research interests include Reinforced Concrete Buildings, Earthquake Engineering, Structural Mechanics, Earthquake-Resistant Structure Design, the Earthquake Performance of Existing Reinforced Concrete Buildings, Finite Elements, and Artificial Neural Networks. He has published numerous national and international academic articles and has been involved in many scientific projects as both a researcher and coordinator. Prof. Dr. Naci Çağlar is married and has four children and one grandchild.
