Rector's Message

Dear Stakeholders, Dear Students,

One of the basic principles of the developing world is to have knowledge and to develop high technology. Universities, having the responsibility to do science, also have the responsibility to raise competent manpower by transferring the knowledge to the new generations.

As one of the capital cities of the Ottoman Empire that led the Silk Road, Bursa, is an active and leading power of the Turkish economy with its 18 organized industry zones and harbors. Bursa Technical University was established in 2010 in Bursa, the business and industry center of Turkey. Within the scope of its “Innovative State University” slogan, BTU trains qualified graduates with its competent academic personnel and hands-on training. With its cutting-edge laboratories and university-industry cooperation projects, BTU has become a strong stakeholder in the business world.

The English preparatory class with an international EAQUALS accreditation, laboratories and workshops prioritizing research and practice, Vocational Education at the Enterprise Program that lets senior students work full time for at least one semester form the baseline of our education system. Our students continue to receive national and international technology awards with their electric car, unmanned aerial vehicle and vessel projects. On the other hand, our graduates start a career in leading technology and industry companies in Bursa and throughout Turkey. As a research university, 25% of BTU students study at the master and the doctoral level in the basic and interdisciplinary research fields.

Our faculty members carry out projects through a number of application and research centers including Bursateknopark and Technology and Transfer Office. These projects set an example of good cooperation between university and industry. Bursa Technical University crowned its work in the field of university-industry cooperation by achieving the first place in Turkey with 23 projects accepted in the TUBITAK 2244 Industry Doctorate Program. Our Central Research Laboratory, which contains the rare devices of the Marmara Region in its inventory, provides testing and analysis services to the high-level companies of our country, especially to the industrial establishments in Bursa and our region, with its high-tech equipment.

Dear students, at our university, you can grow up as a global citizen and engineers who can solve problems, think analytically, be self-confident, entrepreneurial, have hand-on experience through practice and internships, and be in high demand graduates in the sector. While we prepare our esteemed students for the new Turkish century with all our means, we continue to work with the aim of carrying our country to the top in the development index with our scientific projects and R&D investments.
