Bursa Technical University participated in the 2nd Poland–Türkiye Rectors’ Forum. During the forum, opportunities for collaboration with Polish universities in the fields of joint research projects, student and academic mobility, engineering, and technology were discussed, while newly signed protocols laid the groundwork for future partnerships.
Rector of Bursa Technical University Prof. Dr. Naci Çağlar and Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Sinan Uyanık attended the 2nd Poland–Türkiye Rectors’ Forum as part of the Turkish Academic Delegation led by President of the Council of Higher Education Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar.
Hosted by University of Gdańsk, the forum brought together Turkish and Polish higher education representatives to discuss academic cooperation, research and development capacity, and scientific mobility.
Within the scope of the forum, Rector Prof. Dr. Naci Çağlar delivered a speech at the panel titled “Development of Dual-Use Technologies at Technical Universities in Poland and Türkiye.” In his presentation, Rector Çağlar highlighted BTÜ’s role in dual-use technologies through the training of qualified human resources, collaborative R&D activities with the defence and aerospace industries, and the development of a regional innovation ecosystem.
Aerospace and Defence Ecosystem in Bursa
Rector Çağlar emphasized that collaborations with the defence industry, together with the Technology Transfer Office, Bursateknopark, and the university’s entrepreneurship ecosystem, have significantly strengthened BTÜ’s research capacity. He also noted that the university aims to establish a sustainable aerospace and defence ecosystem in Bursa through the aerospace-themed technopark planned for 2027.
Cooperation with Polish Universities
As part of the forum programme, the BTÜ delegation also held bilateral meetings with Polish universities. Cooperation agreements were signed with Rector Prof. Krzysztof Wilde of Gdańsk University of Technology and Rector Prof. Mariusz Popławski of University of Białystok.
The agreements aim to foster joint projects, student and academic mobility, and scientific collaboration in the fields of engineering, sustainable technologies, digital transformation, and international research.
Significant Contribution to Global Academic Visibility
Rector Prof. Dr. Naci Çağlar stated that the internationalization vision led by President of the Council of Higher Education Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar has made a significant contribution to the global academic visibility of Turkish higher education. He also expressed his belief that the forum would contribute substantially to the establishment of strong academic partnerships and the enhancement of scientific mobility between Türkiye and Poland.
