Organized by the Robot Technologies and Intelligent Systems Research Center (ROTASAM) and the Department of Mechatronics Engineering, the event took place at the Ali Sürmen Hall on the Mimar Sinan Campus. Throughout the program, experts in the field shared insights into the most recent developments in robotics technologies.
In the opening speech, ROTASAM Director and Mechatronics Engineering faculty member Prof. Dr. Gökhan Gelen introduced the center’s ongoing research activities and emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in advancing robotics technologies.
The future of robotics discussed
During the sessions held throughout the day, leading academics and representatives of major companies in Türkiye shared their knowledge and experience.
Prof. Dr. Savaş Dilibal, Director of the Robotics Technologies Application Center at Istanbul Gedik University, delivered a presentation titled “Robotic Welding Technologies,” where he highlighted the role of industrial robots in welding processes and discussed innovative approaches shaping the future of manufacturing.
Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Lekesiz from BTÜ’s Department of Mechanical Engineering presented “The Importance of Biomechanics for Robotics,” explaining how insights from human movement influence robot design and how robotic systems increasingly draw inspiration from biological mechanisms.
Latest developments in robotics on display
Industry representatives from Bosch, FANUC, SAHA Robotik, McFly Robot Teknolojileri, and FİGES also took part in the program. Their presentations focused on collaborative robots, the latest advances in robotics technologies, AI-driven production solutions, and industrial automation systems.
In addition to the talks, visitors had the opportunity to see mobile robots, manipulator systems, and autonomous applications developed by BTÜ students. The next-generation robotic platforms designed by students drew significant interest from attendees, turning the exhibition area into one of the most lively parts of the event.
