The opening meeting of the Erasmus+ KA2 project titled EngineerTrack: Gamified Internship Tracking and Skill Enhancement App for Future Engineers took place at the Turkuaz Hall of the Mimar Sinan Campus. Speaking at the event, which marked the launch of this international collaboration aimed at improving the internship processes of engineering students, BTÜ Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Beyhan Bayhan said:
“I would like to extend my sincere thanks to the project team and all partner institutions for bringing this important and forward-looking initiative to life. By bringing together institutions dedicated to advancing engineering education, this project represents a meaningful step toward international cooperation and innovation.”
Elif Atalı, Lecturer at the School of Foreign Languages, emphasized the importance of the project in supporting engineering students through digital tools.
Gamified solutions to existing challenges
Explaining the aims of the initiative, Project Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cihan Kaboğlu noted:
“The EngineerTrack project addresses current challenges in the internship process by offering a gamified application that digitalizes the entire workflow. This approach strengthens communication among all stakeholders, provides clearer monitoring mechanisms, and creates a more motivating experience for students.”
Lecturer Ali Kılıç introduced the project partners and outlined the role of each institution. As part of the meeting, round-table discussions were also held. During these sessions, participants carried out detailed evaluations to ensure a shared understanding, coherence, and high standards across all project outputs.
Development of the EngineerTrack mobile application
The project, coordinated by BTÜ, brings together international partners from Romania, Italy, Germany, Serbia, and Greece. Within the scope of the EngineerTrack project, a competency framework defining technical, professional, and personal skills will be established. Modular internship content adaptable to all engineering disciplines will be developed.
A gamified EngineerTrack mobile application that digitalizes the internship process will also be created. Training videos will be prepared for instructors, and all project outputs will be published in Turkish, Serbian, Italian, Greek, German, and Romanian.
Throughout the project, two international research articles will be published, and local and national dissemination events will be organized to share the project’s results.
