Two New Departments in Artificial Intelligence and Informatics at BTU

Bursa Technical University (BTU) is preparing to enroll students this year in its newly established programs in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, and Data Science and Analytics. Each program will have an intake of 30 students, who will have the opportunity to work as specialists in various fields upon graduation after four years.

President of the Higher Education Council, Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, announced in recent months that new departments focusing on artificial intelligence, AI solutions, digitalization, and big data would be opened at designated universities to cultivate human resources in these areas. As part of this initiative, Bursa Technical University will admit students into its Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, and Data Science and Analytics programs during this application period. Each of these four-year programs, listed in the preference guide, will have a capacity of 30 students. These programs, under the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, will enable graduates to work as "specialists" in various subfields of artificial intelligence and informatics. Both programs will implement a hybrid education model, giving students the chance to take online courses from experts in the field in Turkey.

Courses Offered in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning

The Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning program will include courses such as Object-Oriented Programming, Artificial Intelligence and Ethics, Statistics for Data Science, Artificial Neural Networks, Data Mining, and Deep Learning. This four-year program, comprising both practical and theoretical courses, aims to provide the sector with trained, certified professionals in fields where artificial intelligence and machine learning are used. Students who choose this program will learn about designing relevant algorithms, analyzing big data, and topics like modeling and optimization throughout their education.

Wide Range of Employment Opportunities

Graduates of this program will be able to work in both national and international companies in the field of smart product development. Additionally, they will be able to work in areas such as technology, defense, automotive, healthcare, finance, and e-commerce, focusing on the design of artificial intelligence technologies, the development of designed systems, and their applications. Comprehensive Program in Data Science and Analytics

The Data Science and Analytics program will also welcome its first students this year. With an intake of 30 students, the program aims to train qualified professionals with diplomas in the field. The program, which includes both practical and theoretical courses, will cover subjects such as Object-Oriented Programming, Database Management Systems, Artificial Neural Networks, Signal and Image Analytics, and Ethics and Law in Data Science. Throughout their studies, students will be trained to identify complex problems, develop original creative solutions, design and develop new data processing techniques, and build analytical systems related to these, as well as having the ability to follow foreign resources.

Skills to Acquire

Students graduating from the Data Science and Analytics program after four years will gain the ability to use data, perform analyses, and interpret results. In addition to using existing programs, they will also acquire the skills to design and create new data processing and analytical systems. This will facilitate the development of domestic and national data processing programs suited to specific purposes.

Experts graduating from the Data Science and Analytics program will have the infrastructure to lead all data science projects and develop innovative solutions in both industrial and academic environments.
